Arrrgghhhh Matey!!

Our son, Easton, turned 3 this month and he wanted to have a pirate birthday party. I am always excited about making cakes for my kids. They are always happy with the cakes no matter how they turn out and that makes me happy. This is what a put together for my little pirate!

I always have tons of fun coming up with an plan and then watching the idea come to life. This cake turned out to be really fun! It was a hit with all the kids at the birthday party and especially the birthday boy!

This cake was actually one of the quickest/easiest cakes that I have made. It was easy to frost because I didn't have to try to get anything smooth due to the fact that I was going to make it textured like wood. I also was just able to decorate using M&M's, Fruit-by-the-foot, Rolo's, chocolate coin candy, jewels etc. Nice and easy! I was excited that it turned out as well as it did and the brown sugar sand added just the right finishing touch!
