Coffee Filter Wreath

My sister Jana was in charge of coming up with a craft idea for Super Saturday, so she decided that she would try making a coffee filter wreath. She gathered the supplies and came over to my house so that we could either succeed or fail together. She thought it would be fun to put the initial of our last name in the middle of the wreath and I thought that was a great idea! She picked up the letters at Hobby Lobby and also got us a cute piece of polka dot paper to decorate it. We just used spray adhesive to attach the paper to the wood letter, used a razor blade to cut around it and then sanded the edges. I also used a little bit of distressing ink to add some extra cuteness to my "Y".



Jana went to the grocery store and picked up coffee filters that are brown (no tea dying required - yipee!) and she also bought some cardboard pizza rounds from the bakery/deli. We just cut a circle out of the middle of the pizza round and we were ready to get started. We took 5 coffee filters stacked together, folded them in half and stapled them in the middle at the fold. Then we played around with them (fluffed them out) until we figured out what we wanted each "flower" to look like. We ended up putting 15 "flowers" onto our cardboard wreath form. We attached them with a hot glue and voila! Jana hung her letter "P" with a ribbon, but I couldn't get mine to work, so I just hot glued it right to the coffee filters. I think it looks cute hanging on my front door! Thanks Jana for crafting with me and for getting all of the supplies. This was a fun and SIMPLE project!
